Seasonal Events

Throughout the year, the Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation department provides a wide range of events and activities appealing to all ages and interests. Activities may change depending on the popularity and attendance of the event.


Movies in the Park Series


Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and join us at Pearson Park or Fairfield Park (Vernon Avenue) for our outdoor family-friendly movie series under the stars. Admission is free. No alcoholic beverages, please.

Easter Egg Hunt


An annual Easter Egg Hunt is held Easter weekend at various facilities for youth ages 2-12.

Kwanzaa Celebration


This African-American Holiday/Celebration embraces families and communities alike. It will be held in December and includes activities and displays promoted by local businesses and organizations.

Breakfast With Santa


Come bring your little ones ages 2-7 for breakfast and a visit from Santa held in December at the Georgia K. Battle Center. Admission: 2 cans of food.

Freedom Classic Baseball Series (Naval Academy Vs. Air Force Academy)


Join us at historic Grainger Stadium for a weekend full of baseball featuring the United States Naval Academy vs. the United States Air Force Academy for a 3 game series.
Honoring the American Flag at the Freedom Classic baseball game

Octoberfest/Haunted Trail


Various Halloween festivities are offered in October.

Winterfest


Various winter and Christmas activities are offered November-December throughout the city.
